Government Grants for Home Energy Upgrades

Find out what funding your home may qualify for — and how Warmr helps you check and claim it as part of your free quote.

What grants are available?

Several government-backed schemes help UK homeowners cut the cost of energy-saving improvements. The main ones are the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4), the Great British Insulation Scheme, and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for heat pumps. Between them they can cover insulation, heating upgrades, and low-carbon technologies.

  • ECO4 — heating and insulation support for eligible households.
  • Great British Insulation Scheme — help with insulation for less energy-efficient homes.
  • Boiler Upgrade Scheme — grants towards an air source heat pump.
  • Warm Home Discount and local schemes — seasonal bill support.

Who qualifies?

Eligibility depends on the scheme. Some are based on receiving certain benefits or on household income; others look at your property’s energy rating (EPC) and the type of home you have. You don’t need to work this out yourself — we check the schemes for you.

How Warmr helps

When you get a quote, we look up your property and check whether any funding may apply, then include it in your estimate. There’s no obligation and no pressure — just a clear picture of what’s available for your home.

Are government grants really free money?

Some schemes fully fund the work; others cover part of the cost. As part of your quote we’ll tell you exactly what applies to your home, with no obligation.

Do I have to be on benefits to qualify?

Not always. Some schemes are benefit-based, but others depend on your home’s energy rating or income, so it’s worth checking either way.

How do I check if I’m eligible?

Start a free quote and we’ll check the available schemes for your property automatically — it takes a couple of minutes.

Which upgrades can grants cover?

Depending on the scheme: insulation, heating controls, a new boiler or heat pump, and in some cases solar panels.

Does applying for a grant delay the work?

Your installer handles the paperwork and will explain any timescales during your free survey.
